Why are we talking about safe working?
We’ve been putting a stronger focus on how we support each other and work together on site. It’s all about keeping everyone safe, working smart, and making sure every job gets done the right way.
At InJoinery, we take pride in our craftsmanship and our care for each other. Every job, no matter how small, comes with responsibility - for ourselves and for the people we’re working with. We have a great mix of experienced senior fitters and talented improvers who are up-skilling in the high-end joinery game, we all have a part to play in keeping things safe and professional.
Everyone, no matter their experience level, should always feel comfortable asking questions, checking their set up or double-checking a method before getting stuck in.
What does safe working look like?
It’s not about telling people what to do - it’s about sharing knowledge, bouncing ideas off each other and keeping everyone safe. Which means:
Setting up right:
Making sure workbenches and workspaces are tidy, stable, and at the right working height. Clear away any mess or clutter before tools come out.Choosing the right tools:

Everyone should keep an eye out for their fitting mates - offer tips, spot potential issues, and lend a hand when needed. If something doesn’t look or feel safe, stop and reassess before carrying on.
Why does it matter?

INJ’s expectations and approach
Set up safely: Every fitter is responsible for checking their workspace before starting. If you’re unsure on the safety of a working set up, discuss this with your fitting mates and reassess if needed.
Look out for each other: Everyone has a role in keeping the site safe - whether it’s mentoring, sharing experience, or asking for advice.
Speak up early: If something looks unsafe or doesn’t feel right, stop and get it checked. No one should ever feel pressured to continue working if they think something’s unsafe.
Use tools properly: Make sure you’ve been shown the right method - and if not, ask.
Keep learning: Every job is a chance to pick up something new or pass on what you know.
